    • We've redesigned the Visualization toolbar with a new Toolbox. Line, Intersection Curve, and Extract Surfaces tools have been moved to the Toolbox. Learn more here.
    • We've consolidated the Slice and Multislice visualization tools into a single item in the Visualization toolbar. Click on the Slice icon to choose between Slice or Multislice.
    • We've moved the Screenshot button to the bottom of the 3D Viewer.

    • When uploading an OpenFOAM directory, cellZone files may drastically impact the mesh you see in Luminary. If your mesh doesn't appear as expected, delete the cellZone file and reupload the directory.

    • The Luminary Cloud Python SDK has been updated to version 0.2.3. Learn more here.
    • When using custom spatial discretization settings, you can now apply limiters for the LD2 (Low-Dissipation and Low Dispersion) convective scheme. Learn more here.
    • The Refinement checkbox has been renamed to Auto Refinement Regions.
    • We've redesigned the Run Simulation button. Click on the right side of the button to choose between Run Immediately (default) or Delayed Start and Save (formerly known as Batch Processing).
    • Reference Value settings have moved from the left side of the 3D Viewer to a new Reference Value section inside of Outputs.
    • Solution Residuals have moved from the left side of the 3D Viewer to the Outputs section. Select Outputs to view Solution Residual values.

    • Now when you view simulation results, you can choose between a condensed Post-processing view of the control panel (default) or a Setup Details view. Click on the menu at the top of the control panel to switch between each view.
    • The delete and more options (...) buttons have been moved to the upper-right of the control panel.

  • Enhancements

    • We’ve redesigned the top header and toolbar inside of your projects for a more compact view. The Results and Setup tabs have been moved to the top header, and the Visualization toolbar has been moved to a new floating toolbar at the top of the 3D Viewer.
    • For transient simulations, we've added a Formulation property to frames that define motion. Use this property to choose between Moving Mesh, where the mesh moves at each time step, or Moving Frame, where the governing equations are solved in a moving reference frame. Learn more here.

    • When you cancel a simulation, you will now see the number of credits used before the simulation was suspended. For more information, see the consumption table.

  • Enhancements

    • We've added a new Getting Started page to the app that includes helpful links and instructions for first-time users. You'll be redirected to this page once after your next login. After that, you'll be redirected to the Projects page.
    • You can now write expressions using quantities from point, surface, and volume outputs with standard math operations and functions using a Custom Output. Calculate things like aerodynamic efficiency, pressure drop coefficients, and more. Learn more here.
    • You can now model Wall Roughness inside of a Wall Boundary Condition. In cases where you’re working with rough surfaces, you can set the Equivalent Sand Grain Roughness height in meters. Learn more here.
    • We've added the following new sample project tutorials. You can follow along step-by-step to create them in the app, or access pre-populated versions by clicking New Project and selecting one from the dialog.

    • For precise control over your mesh size, you can use the Sizing Strategy feature to set a max cell count or a target cell count. Learn more here.
    • You can now specify volume-reduced quantities for monitoring and post-processing with a Volume Output. Learn more here.
    • You can now set up an incompressible simulation using a Constant Density with Energy Equation, allowing you to model energy transfer in constant density flows. Learn more here.
    • We've enhanced our file upload experience to decrease upload times, show your geometry in the 3D Viewer even sooner after upload, and provide clear feedback during the geometry preparation and checking process.

    • We've added a new Overset boundary condition that allows you to simulate multiple moving objects without the need to deform your mesh. It can also be used in cases with complicated geometry where several parts are meshed independently and overlapping in some areas. Learn more here.

    • User interface updates:
    • ~We've redesigned the projects summary page with a new left-hand navigation so that it's easier to find your account details and perform administration tasks. Click on the clipboard icon to expand the administration menu.
    • ~We've redesigned the top header inside of your projects with a new menu to make managing projects faster and easier. When you are inside of a project, click on your project name to share, rename, update the description, copy, or delete the project.
    • We've enhanced our geometry health check process to display errors and/or warnings detected in your CAD file. Errors must be corrected before you can generate a mesh file while warnings can be ignored. Learn more here.
    • We've enhanced our solver to allow reverse flow regions at an outlet. In these cases, a total pressure inlet with a flow direction normal to the boundary is used. Properties like temperature, turbulence variables, etc. in the reverse flow region are automatically set as the average over the entire outlet. Learn more here.

    • You can now specify Refinement Regions when generating a mesh file. When specific areas of your mesh need additional resolution, you can use this feature to set different sizing limits in those areas. You can define multiple refinement regions for a single mesh, each with their own sizing limits.

    • When using the box selection tool, you can now select only visible surfaces, or visible and underlying surfaces. Hold Shift and drag the box from left to right to select visible surfaces only, or drag the box from right to left to select visible and underlying surfaces. Learn more here.
    • When saving camera views, you can now create Global Cameras. These camera views are available across all of your projects. When creating a camera view, select Global. Learn more here.
    • Now when you upload a CAD file, nested groups will be automatically created in the Geometry section of the control panel.

    • The Streamlines visualization tool has been updated to include new seed types. The Line seed type has been renamed to Rake, and Grid and Surface seed types are new. Learn more here.
    • You can now apply visualization filters in view-only projects that have been shared with you. Learn more here.
    • You can now view XY Plots from the Output chart dropdown menu. In a Simulation tab, find the Output Monitors panel at the bottom of the page. Use the dropdown menu at the top-left of this panel to select a plot.
    • You can now use rotational and translational motion as input variables in an Exploration. Learn more here.
    • Energy Flux is now an available quantity for surface outputs.

    • You can now take screenshots with a transparent background. Hold Control (Command on a Mac) and click on the screenshot button. Learn more here.
    • You can now reset project settings without deleting generated meshes.
    • You can now run simulations on fully enclosed problems that have motion, such as tanks with mixing mechanisms. The initial average pressure is kept constant and set in Model Settings > Initialization. Learn more here.
    • When modeling a porous medium, you can now specify a heat source to simulate heat gain or loss. Learn more here.

    • An upgrade to project sharing allows you to share your projects in view-only mode. Other users may create a copy of shared projects in order to make their own changes. Note that projects shared before Sept. 8, 2023 will retain the previous functionality.
    • When generating a mesh, you will now see an estimate of how many cells your mesh may contain in the progress bar. As the meshing process progresses, the estimate will update. Learn more here.
    • In the Simulation Control panel in Model Settings > Material, you can now select Water from the Material Preset menu. Learn more here.
